I was recently at a client who had run out of space on her C drive. I opened up “My computer” and noticed that there hard drive had been split into 2 equal sized partitions. The C partition was 98% full while the D partition was less than 5% full.
I looked in the user folder on the C drive to find a large amount of photographs and home made videos. The client was anxious to keep these. So we moved them from the C drive to the empty D drive. At the same time making sure that she also had copies on an external hard drive. This then gave her plenty of space on the C drive. Disk clean up was then run followed by a defrag of the C drive.
The client was happy that she had protected all her precious images and gained a computer which now worked faster and without the “low disk space” warnings.
