All your hard drives are encrypted malware

I had a client with a new windows 7 laptop which booted up yesterday to a screen saying that all her hard drives were encrypted.

She could not access any of her files or family photographs.

I tried booting into safe  mode her files were still not visible.

This is an example of malware in which the master boot record has been modified to give the impression that the hard drive had been encrypted. Once this had been rectified the PC booted up correctly and all her files were still intact.
