Windows 8 safe mode

Microsoft have made it more difficult to get into safe mode. if the PC is up and running you have to use the “charms” to select advance start up options to select safe mode start up.

If your PC will not boot up after a number of attempts it will automatically load to the advanced start up screen where you can select safe start up.

The other option is to hold down Shift and press f8 just after the bios screen, however this can be a little hit and miss.

Run Command prompt as Admin and type (copy/paste the following line in an admin command prompt):

    bcdedit /set {default} bootmenupolicy legacy
    press enter

    to revert:

    bcdedit /set {default} bootmenupolicy standard

ensure operation completed successfully. restart system and you’ll find F8 works.
